Invisalign®

For people who do not like the current positioning and alignment of their teeth, straightening provides a solution. Also, straightening can benefit oral health, so dentists may recommend it. Traditional metal braces or even clear braces are not the only options for straightening, as Invisalign clear aligners can achieve the same goal in a less conspicuous, faster and more affordable way.

We bring this modern straightening method to you at Reed Family Dental as part of our cosmetic dentistry services. Our office can provide you with custom aligners that you wear regularly to gradually shift and straighten your teeth and bite.

What Is Invisalign?

Invisalign is a brand name of clear aligners you wear to gradually shift the placement of your teeth. These plastic aligners are custom fitted to your teeth, so they are comfortable to wear. They are translucent, so no one can tell when you have them in. Also, they are removable, which makes it easy to keep up with your oral hygiene routine and to take them out while eating.

All of these features make Invisalign aligners a beneficial alternative to traditional braces. These “invisible braces” also tend to work much faster than traditional braces, plus they are more affordable.

Invisalign also has benefits compared to other clear aligner brands. This brand is only available through dental professionals, providing a focus on bite and oral health in addition to straighter teeth. At our office, you gain the expertise of our dentist, Dr. Allison Reed, who provides custom care and in-person support.

What Is the Invisalign Process?

Our team values making the lives of our patients better, and technology helps with this goal, just as clear aligners provide a modern alternative to metal braces. At our office, we use an iTero scanner to create digital impressions for your clear aligners.

Compared to the old method of sticky putty in an uncomfortable tray, this technology creates a comfortable, easy and quick impression process. Plus, the digital scans are highly accurate, which is great because they inform the perfect fit and specifications of your Invisalign pieces. Since you need new aligners on a regular basis, digital impressions make your entire Invisalign journey an easier one.

Our office sends your digital impressions to Invisalign, and the company sends back a highly customized set of clear aligners. You wear a set of aligners for a certain period of time, usually weeks, and then we have a new set created for you. You gradually switch from one set to another as your teeth and bite slowly shift their position.

The full straightening process is often complete in half a year, yet the length of time is different for each person. Nonetheless, you’ll quickly see changes and will enjoy gradually straighter teeth during the full treatment process.
